News of the Month
April 13, 2002
The news of the month. Have any of you ever just felt like crying when you read or hear the “news” of what’s going on nowadays? I know I do; let’s just pick one sample day last month and see what was in the Statesman – all the things people are doing to each other in this sad, sad world of ours. Here’s just a partial list. Oh – the day was Wednesday, March 13.
· Andrea Yates was convicted of murder for drowning her 5 children. A woman, so traumatized by postpartum depression, the indifference of her husband, and the overwhelming responsibility of caring for 5 children that she had to have been out of her mind at the time. Yet our macho society can’t extend even a drop of compassion to her. We’d rather kill her and forget the whole mess – and by “the whole mess” I don’t just mean her situation – I mean the way this commercialized society has isolated us all, and replaced our support systems by the impersonal media and fast-food joints.
· Vice-President Dick Cheney took a round-the-world tour – for world peace, or human rights? For the things this nation supposedly stands for? Naaaah; he was trying to drum up support for an attack on Iraq. The US has already decided to invade Iraq; all we need now is “a little help from our friends” – a little justification so we can share the blame for our Crown Prince’s latest exercise in testosterone poisoning. Update: King George II and his roving US Ambassador, Tony Blair, met at the Summer Palace in Crawford, Texas, a week or so ago to firm up our plans to re-terrorize the people of Iran. Bleah!
· Or take Molly Ivins’ column from that day, discussing the US’s latest effort to make the world a less safe and stable place – a new generation of nuclear weapons. We need more nukes, right? To quote Molly, “Before the blood-dimmed tide is loosed, before we become the shape with lion body and the head of a man, with a gaze blank and pitiless as the sun, before we become that rough beast, its hour come round at last, slouching toward Bethlehem to be born … let’s stop. And think. Because this may be our only chance to say no.” (For those who don’t recognize it, she’s quoting the poem The Second Coming by William Butler Yeats. If you haven’t read it, do; it’s absolutely blood-chilling.)
· Here’s a good one – the headline read, “Nuclear regulators failed to get alert on terrorist threat.” It seems that a 1995 investigation into Islamic terrorists discovered that they were planning to attack an American nuclear site. It turns out they didn’t – or at least, they haven’t yet – but the information, obtained by Philippine intelligence agents and immediately passed on to US officials, never made it to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Incompetence? Remember, there are documents out there alleging that the US Secret Service was told not to go to work in the World Trade Center on the morning of September 11. Hmmm.
· One of the biggest non-stories of the day (or of the month, for that matter) was the Israeli attack on the Palestinian refugee camps. They’ve decided to prevent the Arab terrorists from using the camps as bases, so they’re going in with tanks and destroying them. Where the streets are too narrow for tanks, the tanks are plowing through anyway, destroying the houses on either side of the street. Israeli helicopters fired indiscriminately into crowds of Palestinians in the camps, figuring that it was worth murdering hundreds of innocent civilians if just one or two terrorists also died. From the article: “Israelis said they blew up weapons-making facilities during the raid, but at first light, nothing that resembled weapons parts could be seen in the ruins of three factories. One of the wrecked factories – which neighbors say produced retooled car engines – was adjacent to an elementary school. The schoolyard was filled with debris, and children’s red and green plastic chairs were upturned in a classroom with a huge hold punched in its wall.” Israel is only number two, so they try harder – but they’re catching up fast in the race with the US to become the number one international terrorist nation in the world. Update on this one: Israel is still terrorizing the civilian populations of Bethlehem and several other West Bank towns; the difference is they’ve stopped trying to justify it, and just gone in killing. On Thursday the American-Statesman reported that the West Bank’s infrastructure is nearly completely in ruins; Israel has made it nearly impossible for the Palestinians to establish a nation in the West Bank – which was their objective all along.
· Or take the Texas Birth Defects Registry. The registry was begun in 1994 to collect statewide statistics on birth defects when someone noticed the disproportionate number of children born in the Brownsville area without brains. Well, it seems there isn’t enough money to keep the registry open statewide, so the Panhandle’s branch of it has been closed. Now, let’s see – what’s in the Panhandle that might cause an abnormal number of birth defects, that someone might not want us to know about? Hmmm. Oh! Pantex, of course! They make nuclear weapons there. Lots of radiation zipping around, lots of cancer, and lots of birth defects. Someone in our power structure doesn’t want us to know just how many birth defects there are these days, whether it be from nuclear weapons or just our “modern” life-style, with its ubiquitous pesticides, chemicals, and other toxins in our environment. “Environment.” Now, there’s an over-used word if I ever heard one. It’s gotten to the point that people just close the old earlids when they hear it. But think of it this way: the next breath you take – that’s the environment (the surroundings we live in); and if it’s poisoned, as it ever increasingly is, your next breath will include poisons that you’re pulling into your body.
All that in one day. What are we doing to ourselves?
OK; on to some more recent news. … Ah, hell; you know what the news is. The United States continues to terrorize and murder the people of Afghanistan. Why? To find Osama Bin Laden? Of course not! He’s an old friend of the CIA and a business associate of King George’s family. Then why? To make the country safe for the oil pipeline that a consortium of major US oil companies have been wanting to run through there, so they can pipe the oil out of the richest known remaining oil reserve in the world, central Asia. That’s why!
King George, controlled by handlers like Crown Prince Cheney, continues to tighten the noose around the necks of our civil liberties. “But only terrorists have anything to worry about,” they say. Then why aren’t they worried? Think about it for a minute – what does it take to be labeled a terrorist? Just an accusation. That’s all. What happens when the word “terrorist” is hung around your neck? Well, first, there’s no way for you to defend yourself against it. It’s not a “crime” under the law; it’s just a label – one that’s all too easily attached to anyone you don’t like. Remember Salem, Massachusetts, in 1692? Some hysterical teenaged girls hung the label “witch” on several good and god-fearing men and women; and that’s all it took to get them hanged – or, in one case, pressed to death with stones.
Terrorist. How easy it is to say. How instantly the “chicken hawks” out there rise in righteous fury – as long, of course, as they don’t have to face any danger. In words, hawks; in deeds, chicken. You’ve seen them – they’re everywhere. And the word can as easily be applied to a situation as a person: “We’re under a terrorist attack; all civil liberties are suspended for the duration.” The laws are in place or in the pipeline; all it’ll take is the King announcing an emergency, and our liberties are gone!
On Friday, March 29, Channel 10 broadcast a 4-hour live presentation by Mike Ruppert, whose web site, www.copvcia.com, contains page after page of damning evidence that King George II, as well as King George I and others, knew about the World Trade Center attacks beforehand, and allowed them to happen in order to be able to stampede the US people and Congress into passing, among other things, the infamous PATRIOT Act, one of the instruments by which our civil liberties are already being reduced or eliminated. And, if you think it’s some crackpot lunatic talking (him, not me!) he’s a former LA narcotics officer whom the CIA tried to recruit for its drug operations. Not its drug interdiction operations – its drug smuggling operations.
Every day, there’s more and more evidence coming to light on King George’s culpability – his involvement in widespread, endemic corruption, his actions to take the people’s civil liberties away, and his passive – some even say active – involvement in the September 11 attacks. In fact, there’s so much evidence that tonight I pledge myself to work towards the impeachment and removal from office of both King George II and Crown Prince Cheney. Bush must go. To that end, I’ve set up a sub-site off my personal web site; you can find it at www.tom-davis.org/bush-must-go. It has a growing number of links to other writings and web sites dedicated to the same objective.
Some examples are:
·
Michael Moore, at
www.michaelmoore.com. In his New York Times # 1 best-seller
Stupid White Men and Other Sorry Excuses for the State of the Nation,
this filmmaker and author lists reason after reason after reason why George
Dub-ya, the latest scion of America’s number 1 crime family, the Bushes, must
be forced from office, along with his Richelieu, Dick Cheney.
And speaking of Michael Moore, you have to get that book – if you don't
think people are waking up to the King's criminal malfeasance in office,
remember that Stupid White Men has been at the top of the New York
Times best-seller list for weeks now!
· Austin columnist Michael Ventura, at www.austinchronicle.com/issues/dispatch/columns/lettersat3am.html . His columns have recently chronicled the choking off or our rights under the control of the Bush junta.
· The Emperor’s New Clothes, at emperors-clothes.com/indict/911page.htm. This contains a clear chronology of the events leading up to and on September 11, showing, at minimum, that Dub-ya knew about and allowed the attacks. Why? Look around you.
There’s more, too; for example, a credible argument that
just the collision of the jetliners with the World Trade Center – an event that
they were designed and built to withstand, by the way – could not have
collapsed the buildings, especially not in such a carefully controlled
and perfectly vertical collapse as we saw.
This is not the demented rantings of some freakazoid conspiracy nut;
it’s solid, step-by-step deduction, based on evidence and physics. The conclusions it reaches are scary – so
scary that a lot of people find it a whole lot easier not to believe it
– but, as I’ve been saying since day 1 on this show, look for yourself. View the evidence; follow the chain of
logic; and decide for yourself whether it’s credible. For me, IT IS.
Continuing on our topic of government lies vs. actual evidence, over the past week the History Channel has been broadcasting a 6-hour special investigative report entitled “The Men Who Killed Kennedy.” Using internally consistent and thoroughly corroborated evidence and verifiable testimony by credible witnesses, it shows that John Kennedy was killed by 3 specific men (none of whom is named Oswald, by the way) under a contract from the Mafia. The interesting question, of course, is why the government – the FBI, the Warren Commission, etc. – concealed pertinent evidence and manufactured false evidence (again, all proven) if the planners were only the Mob. If any of you would like to see or tape it, it’ll be repeated in its entirety from 1 PM to 7 PM tomorrow on cable channel 61.
You know, the more I learn about what the collusion between big government and the international mega-corporations is doing, the sicker I get. Am I alone? Hardly – all the information is out there; all you have to do is look for it. Example: the current issue of the Texas Observer has a story about the fact – fact – that IBM, GM, Ford, and Standard Oil (now Exxon) gave aid and comfort to the Nazi regime in Germany, both before and after the US declared war on that nation. It wasn’t because they believed in it, you understand; it was just for the profit. Did the US government care? Hah! Not only did they refuse to punish the treasonous corporations (and remember, treason means giving aid and comfort to the enemy during wartime), but they also got a large number of German war criminals off so they could come here and work for those corporations when the war ended.
Of course, things are all better today – look how well the system worked in the case of Enron. Bull byproducts! Enron is the way the system works; corporations use every trick they can, especially their inside influence on the government, to rake in all the money they can, and let the ordinary people like you and me go to hell. Corporations have become the government – if you don’t believe me, look at where King George’s cabinet came from, and what they’ve done while in office at the bidding of the corporations. Libertarians are very vigilant about threats to our liberty from big government; it’s time we started being just as vigilant about threats to our life from the corporate-government hegemony. The mega-corporations are the government, and it’s time we all wake up to that fact, and resist. Let me end this part of the show by quoting this:
“… to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, .…” (emphasis mine)
