Ready for another Mideast war?
The war drums are beating, and the sabres are being rattled like mad. Israel has decided it's going to "protect itself" from Iran, and it's doing all it can to make sure Iran isn't left with the capability to do anything the paranoids running Israel think could possibly be used against it. For example, the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad is responsible for the recent assassination of an Iranian nuclear scientist.
On top of its own actions, Israel is also doing its best to pressure the United States to back it in this lunacy. Luckily (for the entire world), Obama is doing his best to resist this Israeli pressure. Why luckily? World War I wasn't just caused by the assassination of one archduke by one unbalanced man; it was caused by a chain of "entangling alliances" - a network of treaties among the nations of Europe requiring nations to go to war to defend other nations. Iran, as one of the world's chief suppliers of that increasingly rare commmodity, oil, is at the center of another web of entangling alliances.
For an excellent overview of relations between the U.S. and Iran, including a short history, see Tomgram: Pepe Escobar, Sinking the Petrodollar in the Persian Gulf.
Now China has decided to move from using coal - its atmosphere was getting unliveable from all the smoke - to using oil for its energy. So, China made an agreement with Iran to supply it with the oil it nneds. This means that China would not take it too kindly if its newly-acquired supply of oil were to be cut off. For now, with their supply just reduced by the embargoes, China can get the rest of what it needs from Russia and Vietnam.
China has 11 cities with a population larger than the nation of Israel. (Israel's population is about 7.8 million, which puts it slightly larger than China's 12th-largest city, Nanjing.) Who do you think would win if Israel were to succeed in its hope of destroying Iran? And what do you think China would do if the United States was complicit in Israel's proposed crime?
As Mike Ruppert said on January 21 on his CollapseNet web site, "Russia and China both have recently stated unequivocally that it would allow no more sanctions on Iran. The language was phrased to make it clear that a further escalation of sanction would be an act of war against Iran. The western Empire is flailing, just as it was with Rome."
Now that you've read my editorial for the month, let me welcome you to the vanity press of the 21st century - the personal web site. You, too, can show off your shortcomings before the entire world. Ah, well; there are important things to be said (see above), and this is the ... OK, one of the ideal places to do it.

So what can you find here? To start with, look at the frame just to the left. The top list of links talks about me; the second list is about what's going on in this nation today; and the third list ... ah, the third list. Oh, go look for yourself! |
A lot of what's here is political, and specific to the misrule of the Cheney/Bush administration. After all, now they can be prosecuted for the crimes they committed while they were in power. (I know: as if!) One of the most critical tasks the Obama administration has is to remedy the crimes the Cheney/Bush adminstration committed against this nation, its people, its laws, and its economy.
When he was elected, I said I was "cautiously optimistic." It's great to have a President who can actually speak the English language, and has more than a handful of brain cells to rub together, but that may just be the extent of the difference between him and George II.
Somewhere it says, "By their fruits you shall know them." We've watched the Obamafruit ripen, so it's time we paid some attention to the tree - and its roots. I've set up a separate page on this site for information I've dug up on him that the corporate media aren't likely to tell you.
If you want to contact me, select the "Send mail to:" link in the header at the top of this page; I'll answer you as soon as I can (unless, of course, you're one of those obnoxious salesturkeys sending me more spam mail).
