So who am I?
Good grief! You still want to know more?
Well, you can find out by reading on:
Groups I'm Affiliated With
-
Travis County Green Party --
The Green Party is the only party whose principles have the
least chance of getting this nation through the
collection of catastrophies
facing us in the next few years.
Our philosophy is organized around the "Ten Key Values" of
grassroots democracy, social justice, ecological wisdom,
non-violence, decentralization, community-based economics,
feminism, diversity, responsibility, and future focus.
-
Red Cross of Central Texas --
The Red Cross is the largest, and most effective, volunteer-based
disaster service organization in the world.
The central Texas branch of the Red Cross is ready to provide
services to victims of disasters from house fires to hurricanes.
The Red Cross always needs volunteers to help us accomplish our
mission; it also needs monetary donations so we can buy needed
equipment and supplies and provide cash stipends to help people
make it through disasters.
-
Planned Parenthood of the Texas Capital Region --
Planned Parenthood is the nation's premiere sexual and
reproductive health services organization.
They offer preventive service such as cervical cancer screening;
family planning information, services, and supplies;
pregnancy termination services; and
education about sexuality, including the new "Talk First"
program to teach parents how to talk to their children about sex.
-
Austin Human Rights Commission --
I am a member of the Austin Human Rights Commission, the Austin
city government agency charged with investigating and reporting
to the City Council any needs or problems in the area of human
rights.
My area of responsibility is housing - for 2009, with special
emphasis on affordable housing and mortgage foreclosures.
-
Gaia Spirituality --
This web site describes the spiritual path, based on Wicca,
that I have created and follow.
It is centered around building the kind of spiritual foundation
that's going to be needed over the coming years.
It is centered around the celebration of the worth-ship
(which is the root of the word "worship") of four
aspects of our existence: the self, the community, our mother
Earth, and the Divine.
-
The Live Oak Local Council of the
Covenant of the Goddess --
The Covenant of the Goddess was founded in 1975 to increase
cooperation among Wiccans and to secure for Wiccans and
Wiccan groups the legal protection enjoyed by members of
other religions.
The Live Oak Local Council is the local presence of CoG in
central and south Texas, and is headquartered in Austin,
Texas. I currently serve as the public information officer
of Live Oak.
-
Austin Area Interreligous Ministries --
The Live Oak Local Council is a full voting member of AAIM;
I volunteer to be a table host at the monthly Red Bench
discussion events sponsored by AAIM.
-
The Naturist Society --
This is a national organization of naturists and nudists.
It publishes the quarterly magazine "N" with news, essays, and
reports on great places around the world to enjoy life
clothes-free.
It also sponsors the Naturist Action Committee, whose task is
to monitor and, where possible, influence state and national
legislation that affects our freedom to engage in nude recreation.
Groups I Was Affiliated With in the Past
-
Travis County Libertarian Party --
From 2000 through October 2005 I was a member of the Travis
County Libertarian party;
I was the Party's candidate for State Senator from Austin in the
2000 elections, earning 18% of the total votes cast. My TV show,
Liberty & Justice for All,
was a regular segment of the TCLP's show, Live & Let Live.
I am no longer a member of the Libertarian Party;
instead, I have moved my affiliation to the Green Party, above.
-
Council of the Magickal Arts --
a Texas-based organization that hosts a semiannual gathering of
over 500 Pagans of all kinds, at Samhain and Beltane each year.
Thank Goddess, it's pretty much recovered from a dark time when
incompetent, and in one case even malicious, leadership nearly
destroyed it.
-
The Pagan Alliance of Central Texas (PACT) --
a group of Wiccans and other Pagans that acted for
fellowship and support of its members, and to raise public
awareness that Paganism is a valid religious path in the
world today.
I served as president of PACT from May, 1998, to April, 2000.
Sadly, PACT went out of "business" in 2002.
-
VORTEX Repertory Company --
I was a member of the Company from 1992 until 2001, but my
job requirements prevented me from continuing as a
Company member. While I was a member, I stage-managed several
shows, acted in one show (The Pitchfork Disney),
and directed one (Free Will & Wanton Lust, the
last show at the old Ben White location).
-
I created the original web site for the Personal Safety Awareness
Center and the Austin Rape Crisis Center (which has now merged
with the Austin Center for Battered Women to become
SafePlace).
Until the end of 1996 I managed those pages and did hot-line
staffing, hospital assistance for rape survivors, and public
speaking to people in the 6th grade through college.
During that time, I was recognized as a "Hall of Fame" volunteer.
